“No! Please!”

The dark silhouette hovered over her. A cruel smile twisted the woman’s lips, sending shivers down her spine. Terrified, she pulled her bloodied knees to her chest, her heart racing like a trapped bird, desperate to escape the suffocating grip of fear.

A sharp slap struck her swollen cheek, sending pain through her body. She whimpered, the metallic taste of blood filled her mouth, each breath becoming a struggle. She attempted to crawl away, but a kick to her ribs froze her in place. She prayed for this cruel torment on her to end but the silence was mocking her.

she can never escape.....

Her stepmother raised a thick leather strap and brought it crashing down on her. A scream tore from her throat as the pain erupted across her back, the sound of agony echoed in the chamber.

Suddenly, the room began to change. The walls and floor melted away, replaced by a fierce, roaring fire.

Before her laid a chamber captured in fire's arms. Screams were coming from the chamber, "Mother" she cried, her eyes blurred with tears. Flames roared her, the heat searing her skin.

Gathering the last ounce of her power she ran towards the chamber but something held her back from behind.

She jolted awake, her whole body trembling, drenched in cold sweat. Her breath came in sharp and shallow as she gasped for air. She tried to blink the tears away, hoping to push away those terrible images. With shaky hands, she reached for the glass of water, drinking it in a swift gulp, feeling the cold liquid soothe her dry throat.

Closing her eyes, she tried to calm her racing mind—a battle she had fought countless nights.
“Please… leave me… it's hurting…”

Her eyes snapped open, the cries still echoing in her head. No matter how hard she tried, the past clawed its way back into her mind. For most, childhood was a time for joy—a time when they were free like a bird, but to her, it was a nightmare that left its haunting imprints on her.

Everyday, the same flashbacks are replayed in her mind like a lifetime curse to her. Tears welled in her sapphire-blue eyes, turning them into dark crimson hues—a punishment for the sins she never committed.

She stood up after calming down herself, taking a deep breath before opening the door. The house was eerily quiet, with no one home. Silence filled the space, only broken by the soft chirping of birds outside. Sunlight poured through the windows, casting a gentle glow throughout the house.

As she opened the front door, a cool breeze swept in, gently swaying her black, wavy hair. She closed her eyes for a moment, letting herself feel peaceful in the embrace of nature—her true home.

Stepping outside barefoot, she felt the softness of the grass and rustling of scattered leaves beneath her feet. The sound of nearby by stream invited her towards itself.

As she reached there, she knelt by the water's edge. She dipped her fingers into the cool water, watching the ripples. A thought invaded her mind ruining the peace. Today marked the anniversary of her birth—a day that should have been filled with joy and happiness but instead felt like a heavy curse.

The day she was born, the day from which she was hated by many and branded as a monster. The moment she entered this world, the blood that poured from her mother's womb was ominous black, something unnatural and terrifying for those who witnessed her birth.

It was as if the universe had marked her with this color, a constant reminder that she was different, tainted by the blackness that symbolized the pain, sorrow, and betrayal that had shadowed her life from the very beginning.
Her stepmother took pleasure in torturing her, lashing out at her in the cruelest of ways. Those years of suffering had left her with scars both on her body and her soul.

Everyone whom she loved with her everything, left her, shattering every hope she had.

And then, the one person she had dared to trust—dared to love—betrayed her and left her completely broken.

In that moment, she stood up and turned towards the cliff that seemed to call her—that seemed the only peace to her suffering. She felt numb, as if the world had dulled into shades of grey, void of any color.

She reached the edge of the cliff, staring out at the hollow beneath. She didn't feel anything—no hope, no fear—just emptiness, just like the emptiness inside her.

"Maybe this is the last gift I can give to the world," she whispered, her voice barely audible. She closed her eyes as she let everything go.

And with that, she stepped off the cliff, vanishing into the depths.
